Slope Stability – Bundanoon
This steeply sloping site in the village of Bundanoon was an exciting proposition for the development of this modest 3 bedroom home. The site was the driving force behind the initial schematic design and ultimately behind the resolution for this proposal.
The plan appears as a melding of two forms:
- a strong rectilinear form bounded by infill block work which cuts into the site from a single storey to double storey as it progresses downhill and
- a lightweight glazed living box which appears to hang above the site, with gliding lines of butterfly and skillion roofs.
The building appears as a series of strong vertical or horizontal lines, controlled by a repetitive grid which allows for design to present a clean, ordered internal layout. All spaces are rationally set and as such the solution presents strong architectural language of modern material and contemporary form.
