Shed Convert - Wingello

Built in 2008 2009 this rural weekender sits on a substantial 20 acre lot adjoining State Forest lands and larger rural properties. The development idea was to convert a standard colorbond kit shed into a contemporary comfortable weekend retreat for the owners.
The house is positioned on a level platform which sits above the dirt access road and looks directly north enjoying the rolling vista of rural lands beyond. The position on site ensures the owners can not ony enjoy the view on offer , but more importantly it ensures that the environmental conditions are considered. That the home offers plenty of natural light, make the most of the prevailing breezes in summer and ensure the sun enters the living areas in winter .
There are minimal services within this area ie power and phone being the only available amenities, so this modest conversion utilises rainwater tanks, on site effluent , slow combustion fireplace , and solar panels to ensure comfortable living.
The shed was converted from a simple shell to offer the following:-

  • The main ground floor contains an open plan, living , dining and kitchen area open to the north and south.
  • The ground floor also allows for a laundry, main bathroom and double bedroom.
  • The mezzanine level offers another open space for the kids bunks and tv play area with an open deck facing north.

This family oreinted comfortable dwelling illustrates how with a little thought and clever fitout you can turn a simple colorbond shed into a contemporary weekend retreat.
