Family Home - Gymea Bay

Situated on a long narrow block in the riverside suburb of Gymea Bay this early 1950's clad cottage was transformed from a neglected, poorly renovated form into a viable family home.
From a mix of dark segregated rooms, the extension grew to create an open, light and voluminous building form, a contemporary interpretation of the traditional family home. Weatherboard cladding, timber windows and doors, corrugated metal roofs, large expanses of glass and a direct connection between the internal living and the outside garden evolved.
The alterations and additions carried out on this small two bedroom cottage were extensive and saw the original house evolve into a vibrant family residence which included the creation of 3 bedrooms to the ground floor and one centralised generous bath.
New open plan Kitchen, Dining and Lounge area with direct access to the backyard and a 1st floor addition of a master retreat , study / lounge area, bedroom and generous ensuite.
